DHA and ARA are fatty acids found in human milk that support brain and eye development. Recent research showed that adding DHA and ARA to preterm formulas could benefit preterm infants. In this study, premature infants fed a preterm formula (in hospital) and NeoSure Advance (postdischarge) supplemented with DHA and ARA until 12 months corrected age(CA) had improved visual development (measured at 6 months of age) and early language development in subset of infants.1 (Per NICU practice, these babies also received human milk.)

Preterm discharge formulas, like NeoSure Advance, have higher levels of protein, calories, and many key vitamins and minerals as compared to term formulas (like Similac Advance) when mixed according to directions.
